County Outdoor Activities Adviser

If you're passionate about getting girls outdoors, then we need you as an outdoor activities adviser. You'll support and train fellow volunteers in the practical and logistical ways they can give girls more opportunities for adventure. You don’t need to have any previous experience of guiding to be a great fit for this role, but it’s best if you have good existing knowledge of outdoor activities.

The Outdoor Activities Adviser supports a wide range of outdoor and adventure activities, liaising with the County Residential Adviser and working with the County Walking & Water Advisers.

County Membership Growth Adviser

You'll be responsible for getting more volunteers and girls in your area involved in guiding. The coordinator organises other volunteers to help grow guiding by telling people about the opportunities we offer. You will:

  • Work with the County Commissioner and Divisions to create and implement a Membership Growth action plan.
  • Use Go! and Our Data to understand the current membership profile and to identify areas within the guiding area that need targeted support.
  • Work with Comms and PR Adviser & Commissioners to ensure that strong and positive messages given internally & externally.

Section Leader - Brownies Wokingham Division

As Commissioner/Section Leader you are both an internal and an external ‘figurehead’ for guiding. You should be a leader who can formulate and follow a strategic plan, communicate effectively at all levels and network with local communities. You will need to give time to building up relationships and managing people; a County Commissioner directly supports Division Commissioners who in turn support District Commissioners/Section Leaders, where this structure exists.

A Commissioner/Section Leader role can be shared between two or more people if required. The Commissioner/Section Leader role sits within a team of area-level volunteers and many of the tasks can be delegated to others, making the role flexible and collaborative.

County International Adviser

As adviser, you'll support leaders in your county to offer exciting international opportunities to young members, and provide practical support to members as they get involved in international guiding. This includes:

  • Promoting local, national and international opportunities, and encourage girls and Leaders to take part in Region & County international selection events.
  • Support Leaders with the approval process for International Residential Event Notification forms and other international matters.
  • Support Leaders completing the Travelling Abroad Module of the Going Away With Scheme.

Section Leader - Rainbows Swan Division

As a Section Leader you are both an internal and an external ‘figurehead’ for guiding. You should be a leader who can formulate and follow a strategic plan, communicate effectively at all levels and network with local communities. You will need to give time to building up relationships and managing people; a County Commissioner directly supports Division Commissioners who in turn support Section Leaders.

A Section Leader role can be shared between two or more people if required. The Commissioner role sits within a team of area-level volunteers and many of the tasks can be delegated to others, making the role flexible and collaborative.

County Leader in Training Coordinator

As a leader in training coordinator you’ll work as part of a county team to make sure leaders in training have the right support to become a unit leader. More specifically, this means you’ll:

  • Match leaders in training with a mentor
  •  Brief and support mentors
  • Monitor the progress of leaders in training
  • Approve observation records
  • Liaise with the training team about learning needs
  • Sign off completion of the Leader Development programme

Division Commissioner Reading Riverside

As Commissioner you are both an internal and an external ‘figurehead’ for guiding. You should be a leader who can formulate and follow a strategic plan, communicate effectively at all levels and network with local communities. You will need to give time to building up relationships and managing people; a County Commissioner directly supports Division Commissioners who in turn support District Commissioners/Section Leaders.

A Commissioner role can be shared between two or more people if required. The Commissioner role sits within a team of area-level volunteers and many of the tasks can be delegated to others, making the role flexible and collaborative.

District Commissioner Tilehurst

This role directly supports our units and is busy and important. You’ll support unit volunteers to provide amazing experiences for girls and young women.

You’ll use your Girlguiding knowledge and experience to advise leaders and other volunteers on running their units to give young members the best opportunities. It’s a fantastic chance to spot skills and support others to give something new a try. You’ll get to know volunteers and girls across your area and help them develop their confidence and skills

Division Commissioner Swan Division

As Commissioner you are both an internal and an external ‘figurehead’ for guiding. You should be a leader who can formulate and follow a strategic plan, communicate effectively at all levels and network with local communities. You will need to give time to building up relationships and managing people; a County Commissioner directly supports Division Commissioners who in turn support District Commissioners/Section Leaders.

County Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Adviser

As County DofE Adviser you’ll help girls do their DofE and support the volunteers running the programme. You will:

  • Be the focal point for DofE in the county and spearhead the delivery of the programme in our units.
  • Communicate and liaise with Region DofE adviser.
  • Give reports on DofE to the county commissioner as required.
  • Attend DofE country/region meetings as required.
  • Provide advice to units on setting up a DofE group.
  • Promote the DofE to units and leaders across the county.

County Volunteering Opportunities
