County Awards

Electronic Form

County Standard Award

This is awarded to adult members for significant service within the County. This award is not dependent upon a County appointment or on more than one appointment. The service should be above and beyond the normal requirements of the individual's role.

Berkshire Stag Award

This award is for members aged over 18 years and over. Awarded for exemplary service to Guiding in Berkshire in any Capacity. Exemplary service could include making a significant contribution to a County Committee or Task & Finish Group (e.g.plan a large scale County Event).

Liz Bracewell Award

Awarded to members under the age of 30. The young member must demonstrate sustained involvement in the community and should have shown personal development through the use of social skills and her own personal qualities. Whatever her level, she should play an active role within Guiding.

Guiding Light Award

For All Members that have helped showcase Girlguiding in the local media or on social media to increase awareness of the Girlguiding programme, or have helped to increase adult members/volunteers within their local community.

Berkshire Merit Award

For members under 30 years old who have shown initiative and responsibility. Recipients will demonstrate their commitment to Guiding in a particularly commendable way, or will continue their Guiding activities whilst displaying a positive attitude despite coping with exceptional circumstances

Team Award

For members of all ages. Recipients will have worked well together in a team either organising or delivering a Guiding activity. The group should have shown exceptional teamwork and should have showcased Girlguiding's aims and benefits to other members.

County Thanks Badge

For members and non-members aged 16 years and over - to recognise the dedication of those who freely give their time to ensure good quality Guiding within the County. This badge can be used to show appreciation of significant commitment supporting and/or delivering a good quality Guiding experience.

Long Service Awards

All volunteer service is recognised by Long Service Awards. 1 & 3 year awards are presented by South West Region and are send directly to the recipient.

5 & 10 year awards are presented locally and are the responsibility of the Division to ensure they are presented.

15 year awards are presented by South West Region and are send directly to the recipient.

20 year awards are the responsibility of the County and are presented at the annual County Thanks and Recognition event.

25 year awards are presented by South West Region and are send directly to the recipient.

30, 40, 50 and 60 year awards are the responsibility of the County and are presented at the annual County Thanks and Recognition event.

Region Awards

Compass Award

The South West England Compass Award can be gained by any adult member, including unit helpers in recognition of their contributions and commitment to Guiding at unit level and for promoting Guiding in their local area/community.

Silver Oak Leaf Award

The Silver Oak Leaf will be awarded to recognise and acknowledge the outstanding contribution and commitment that any adult over the age of 18 years has made to the promotion or advancement of Guiding within South West England.

Young Adult Leaders Award

The Girlguiding South West England Young Adult Leaders Award can be gained by any Leader aged 18 to 30 years who has done something special, something remarkable. The something special or remarkable is wide ranging and will depend on the individual’s circumstances.

Chief Commissioner's Award

This is awarded at the discretion of the Chief Commissioner to a member or non-member of Girlguiding South West England of any age, from Rainbows upwards. The Awards Sub-committee may also recommend a nomination. Letters of application for this award should be sent to the Chief Commissioner, c/o Lucy Asher. Nominations can be made by any member of Girlguiding, the Trefoil Guild and associated organisations.

National Awards

Is there someone in your Unit, District, Division or County who is special and who you feel deserves recognition for what they do for Guiding? Have you thought about nominating them for a Guiding Award?

National Honors

Guiding Hero

An award for members or friends of Girlguiding who have done something special. Who can be nominated for the Hero award? Heroes can be of any age. They can be members or friends of Girlguiding. Reasons to give the Hero award are as wide as your imagination!

Laurel Award

The Laurel award celebrates exceptional service.It’s an award for an active member of Girlguiding who’s made an outstanding contribution to guiding. Girlguiding members can nominate exceptional volunteers for a Laurel award by submitting an application.

Silver Fish Award

The Silver Fish award recognises what a member has achieved across the breadth of Girlguiding. This is Girlguiding's highest honour so only a few awards are given each year. Girlguiding members can nominate exceptional volunteers for a Silver Fish award by submitting an application.

Guiding Star

The Guiding Star award is given to exceptional young members of Girlguiding, aged up to 19. Girlguiding members can nominate exceptional volunteers for a Guiding Star award by submitting an application.

Thanks Badge

It can be given to members and non-members of Girlguiding as a sign of appreciation for their support. Any member of Girlguiding may present a thanks badge after a discussion with a leader or commissioner.

Good Service Brooch

This brooch can be given to an adult member of Girlguiding for excellent service to guiding. It can be awarded by the chief guide, for service to Girlguiding, a chief commissioner, for service in a country or region and a county commissioner, for service in the county. To be eligible for a good service brooch, the nominee must have completed a role no more than 6 months before the application is made.
